Sunset Sands - Hayling Island

We spent 90% of our time off site and ate elsewhere. The surroundings put us off too, with dirt bikes and quad bikes going up and down near the caravans, plus loud BBQs and people smoking substances late into the evening. Areas around the entertainment spaces looked poorly cared for, so we skipped the events. We had also booked the summer cyclone event for the children, but saw dogs urinating against it before and after, so didn't attend. We paid for a caravan advertised as Platinum and were extremely disappointed. It was small, worn and run down, and nothing like the Platinum caravans elsewhere on site or those shown on the website. The cramped layout left barely any space around the bed in the main bedroom. There was only one shower and a separate toilet. The bedroom TV had been removed from the wall, and both the towel rail and living room sliding partition doors were hanging off. Customer support made things worse. I raised the problems when we arrived and sent a video, but by checkout I still hadn't had meaningful contact or a resolution. Nobody on site seemed willing to take responsibility, and guests are just sent to a generic complaints email. I'm still chasing it. It's ridiculous. I wouldn't return if this is how they handle concerns. A very disappointing stay, nothing like what we expected from the booking description and recommendations.

The beach is within walking distance, as are local pubs, and there's a Lidl up the road. I went for seven nights over Easter and am already looking forward to visiting again in August. The silver caravans are amazing and fully equipped with everything you need, and the bed was really comfortable. The site was very clean and the staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The food was tasty, though a bit pricey, and there was bingo every night. I enjoyed seeing the children's faces light up during the entertainment, and the staff interacted with them brilliantly. I wasn't keen on the card-only, no-cash policy, but it didn't spoil my stay.

There's a bus route right outside the main gate, and the park is really dog friendly. A great location for exploring or just enjoying the holiday park. We got a friendly welcome and the caravan was spotless. We only used the facilities twice, but they were good. Excellent WiFi.

We just had a long weekend in a platinum caravan with a hot tub, and it was perfect for our honeymoon. The staff were amazing and even helped decorate the caravan for us. We've been coming here for 7 years and can't wait to book again.
