I’ve spent plenty of nights in hotels for work, and this is up there with the best. I was here for 10 nights while working nearby. The rooms and service were brilliant, and the food was fantastic 👌

We had a great stop on the way farther north. The beach walk just over the bridge is lovely, and I’d recommend the museum too. The owners were kind and really considerate when we had an issue with other guests. Having the pub connected to the hotel was a nice part of the stay.

We stopped for dinner, so I can’t comment on the rooms. My wife had the Rogan Josh and I had a lovely steak, both were excellent. The food was fantastic, and the barmaid was great. The chef came out to advise on gluten-free options, and swapping onion rings for fried onions worked really well.

I’ve never felt moved to write a review before, but this stay was awful. The bar below the rooms was noisy until 02:30. When I mentioned it to the owner at checkout, they said nobody had complained before, which seemed odd given the earplugs on every bedside table. At breakfast, someone immediately asked me if I’d heard all the noise the night before. If that kind of noise will bother you, avoid booking here. If you’ve already booked, cancel and stay somewhere else.
