We booked just two days ahead, and the email communication was very good. On arrival we dropped our bags, got a parking disc, and received really helpful advice about where to park. The staff were all warm and welcoming, and since the hotel wasn’t full that evening, they upgraded our room. The food was fantastic, tasty and served in huge portions. The bed was super comfy, breakfast more than adequate, and the location handy for drinks around town and sightseeing. Highly recommended.

I was short on time, so I didn’t try the menu, though it looked wonderful. The beer was excellent, the staff were friendly, and the building is beautiful. I came across this place by accident and am glad I did. Well worth a visit, and I’ll eat here next time I’m in the area.

We stayed one night and had a great room, No7, which was big and had a comfortable bed and nice pillows. The shower was great too, and breakfast the next morning had lots of choice. The place looks nice outside and the welcome indoors was just as nice. The staff were lovely, including the manager Fiona. We’d definitely recommend it and return.

Dinner in the hotel restaurant was an excellent choice. The food was great, and the warm, comfortable, friendly surroundings made it even better. Breakfast was superb too, and the stay was amazing value for money. The owner Fiona and the staff gave tremendous service and couldn’t do enough for us. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. A terrific find in central Hexham, highly recommended.

The atmosphere was pleasant, but that couldn’t make up for the food. My Sunday dinner was a real disappointment: the meat clearly wasn’t fresh, and the rest of the meal was just as underwhelming, with little quality or care. For a place that presents itself as respectable, it fell well below standard. I expected much better and won’t return. I wouldn’t recommend eating here.
