We were a group of 17 and had plenty of room in this large house, which could have accommodated 20. It has lots of parking and is surrounded by countryside with lovely walks. Buxton is 3.7 miles away. We stayed just before Christmas, and the house had been tastefully decorated for the season, including a splendid Christmas tree.

Sixteen of us stayed, eight adults and eight children, and the house still felt roomy. There’s a big dining area, a well-equipped kitchen with two dishwashers and a beautiful AGA cooker. Kids of all ages had plenty to do, including a pool table and a separate lounge with a games console and TV. The layout is unusual and a bit maze-like, great for hide and seek. The outside space is generous, though some areas need better upkeep. A few raised patio slabs were loose, so we had to keep an eye on the dog and youngest child. A fabulous weekend house for family and friends. I’d recommend it.
