Firs Hotel

It’s only a 13-minute walk to Hitchin old town, and this family-owned hotel has a familiar feel and a retro style. My room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The staff were very kind and clearly wanted me to have a pleasant stay. They even waited for me when I arrived after reception had closed. I loved the full English breakfast. Thanks to Mimma and all her family for making me feel at home. I’d definitely recommend the hotel and would stay here again if work brings me back to Hitchin. Kind regards, Fabrizio Massei

I stayed for three straight weeks and had no problems. It’s a small, quiet place with ample free parking. The service was very good, and they let us check out late since our flight was in the evening. All the best to the ladies.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the pillows were decent quality, which makes a difference. The location is perfect for walking into town, breakfast was tasty with a good selection, and the staff were extremely friendly. There’s private parking on site, and the security made me feel safe. Free Wi-Fi had a strong signal too. There’s no lift, so handling luggage can be difficult. Still, I was comfortable during my two-day stay and have nothing bad to say. I travelled two hours to get there, and was very happy with my stay. 10/10.

The staff kept checking whether they could get me anything after I broke my ankle two days before the trip. They really will go out of their way to help. The rooms feel more like a house than an apartment, and the showers are hot with good pressure. The location is excellent, with that classic old British bed-and-breakfast feel. Just don’t expect the building or furniture to be new.
