The Rooms at the Nook

Breakfast was the low point. We waited 45 minutes, and the other couple there waited more than an hour, even though it was just the four of us in a very roomy dining area. The room itself was modern and very nice, with old beams and traditional features. The bed felt a bit hard, and there was only one flat pillow, which didn’t work for side sleeping. For the price and location, though, it wasn’t a bad visit. 👍

The breakfast was the one good part, but I won't be coming back. There was a late private party in the bar that went on until nearly 2am. The location was as described, but the room was only average, with the previous guests' bill left behind and the waste bin still full. The stairs up to the shower were very creaky and had no markings to show the step; there was another unmarked step on the long walk to our room. That feels like a serious safety concern if someone had an accident. There are also a lot of concrete stairs to reach the rooms, which we would have wanted to know in advance because my husband is semi-disabled.

We slept really well in a comfortable bed. The room was lovely, in a beautiful building, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a nice bar downstairs, a good pub next door, and breakfast was good too.

The beer was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend.
