The menu was so tempting, with belly pork, lamb pie, pizza, desserts and plenty of vegetarian choices. We ended up sharing calamari bites first, then had pizza and belly pork. The salad and generous starter portion were great, and the food, service and prices all impressed us. We’d been told about Church House Inn by the nearby Shepherd's Huts, so we booked a table for two and got a lovely spot by the fire. A glorious, clean, welcoming pub with a great cider and ale selection. We’re only half an hour away, so we’ll be back.

I’ve eaten here several times now, and it’s become one of my favourite Dartmoor pubs. The homemade food is delicious and a cut above, and there’s a varied menu. It took me a while to discover this gorgeous place, but the lovely old building, proper fires and warm welcome make the trip worthwhile, even from the other side of Dartmoor.

The burgers are consistently great, and when pork belly is on the menu, that’s what I order. It comes in a generous portion with amazing sides. My family has been to this local pub several times, and we always get a warm welcome and excellent food. Prices are a little above a standard pub, but the quality is much higher. A great pub all round.

The roast was delicious and arrived hot without much of a wait, even though the historic inn was really busy. We were a group of six, and the people running the pub made us feel welcome. The staff were lovely and cheerful, and the Christmas decorations looked very pretty. They’ve got things right here. Thank you.

We stopped here for a drink and something small, like chips, during a Sunday walk. They said the food was freshly prepared for the number of main meals they wanted to serve, so chips weren’t available. We settled for crisps and pork scratchings and sat outside.
