The tables were cleaned really thoroughly between guests, which was a nice bit of attention to detail. Service was charming, quick, and efficient. We just made it for the brunch menu, and I had the delicious Cley Smokehouse kippers, perfectly smoked and cooked. The generous pots of tea were great value too. We couldn't fit in any cake, but that Black Forest Gateaux looked heavenly. We'll be back to treat ourselves in 2026. We hadn't been to Byfords for perhaps 10 years or more, until yesterday, 29 December 2025. So glad to find the food and service are still excellent. It's easy to see why it's so popular. We hadn't booked, which was foolish between Christmas and New Year, and waited half an hour for a table. The front of house team kindly warned us about the wait. We were inside, and the time gave me a chance to apply for a 'Norfolk Passport'. It got us a decent 10% or perhaps more off the food, which was good value even without the discount.

The seafood platter for two was delicious and generous, with plenty of calamari, mackerel pâté, shrimps, and battered fish fingers, served with focaccia, tartare sauce, and thousand island sauce. We also had a cappuccino and a glass of Prosecco for me. Byfords had been recommended, and it lived up to that. There was a short queue, but we were seated just over five minutes later at a window table. The menu has loads of options, and the service was excellent. I’ll definitely go again.

Byfords is always a lovely place to go for a meal. It is expensive, so it's a treat for me now and then, but the staff are brilliant and the atmosphere is amazing. The brownie and blondie shakes are so good. We went on 16.01.26, and our waiter Liam was fantastic and really attentive.

We'd visited many years ago and had always promised ourselves we'd stay, so I booked a weekend for my husband's Christmas present. I can't fault the visit. Every staff member we met was personable, attentive, and seemed to genuinely care about the service. We stayed in room four on the first floor. It was beautifully presented and well equipped, and we loved the jar of half-moon-shaped night cookies. The food portions were generous, and everything was well prepared and presented. Can't wait to return.

Friendly staff and a nice place. The breakfast was good, but you do pay a bit more for the name than for the food, as happens with popular places. It costs more than the local cafés, so I wouldn't go every day. Still, it's worth a trip for coffee and cake or a lunchtime treat. I didn't stay in the rooms, so can't rate them.
