The Feathers Holt

The Lawns, which is part of The Feathers, has lovely rooms, and we’ve stayed there before because we like the location. The food is pretty good, and the place has a cosy feel. One thing that bothered me was how hot the rooms and shared areas were. We kept the windows open in early January, which seems wasteful and bad for the environment.

We’ve been in twice, once over Christmas to see the lights and again in spring. Both visits were great: the food was lovely, and the team were super. We tried the roast and the Thai night, both amazing. Our dog got plenty of fuss too. It’s a brilliant pub right in the centre of holt.

The bed was huge and comfortable, the bathroom roomy, and the staff were attentive. Thanks to Sasha, Teigh, Josh and Melanie, who were happy to help with anything, and a special thank you to housekeeper Nicola. A lovely stay right in the centre of Holt.

The food was good, and the cosy decor made for a nice setting. I had a ham and cheese sandwich with chips, with fresh bread and tasty fillings. My friends’ sausage rolls looked good too. The service from the woman at the bar was a real letdown. She kept us waiting while she was reading a receipt and didn’t apologise. I also saw and heard her raise her voice at colleagues several times in front of customers. In my opinion, she shouldn’t be working front of house. It’s a shame one staff member brought the visit down.
