Wortwell Hall Barn

That breakfast was stunning. I still wish I could make poached eggs that good! We had everything we needed in the room, including a great shower and a door straight out to the garden for the dogs. We were there for two nights, a gift from our son, and the owners made us feel at home right away. They chatted with us and the other guests like old friends, and even laid the table so we could eat our takeaway there. Such lovely, easygoing people, nothing seemed too much trouble. Five stars, and thanks from me, Annie and our girls.

There was plenty of information about local attractions and places to eat, and Clive and Jenny knew the area well. We were made to feel at home in their house, and they were friendly and easy to talk to. My fiancé and I stayed two nights with our German shepherd puppy, Klaus. The room was clean, breakfast was freshly cooked and nicely presented, and we had everything we needed. Thanks, Clive and Jenny, for a lovely stay!

The room itself was clean and the shower was great, but the room door didn't lock and we could hear people coming in, walking upstairs and talking. I brought a Groupon deal for my husband's birthday. It promised sherry, cake and luxury biscuits. We got the sherry, but the biscuits weren't luxury and the fruit cake was old. When we left, I was told I owed another £70 because breakfast had supposedly been upgraded. We only had toast that morning, but when I pointed that out, I was told, “Well, you had toast.” What a rip-off. I'll never stay there again.

The cooked breakfast was the best I've had in a while. The people were wonderful, the rooms spotless, and we definitely recommend the place. We plan to come back when we're staying in the area.
