We were warmly welcomed, and the owner was very friendly and helpful with our requests. The pizza was really good too, fresh and crispy with great toppings. We stayed one night with our baby while heading to the New Forest, and would definitely stay again.

After a 17-hour flight, we arrived and were able to check in early. That was lovely.

Breakfast was good and plentiful, and we had a couple of drinks at the bar. Our king room was lovely and tasteful, with a big, very comfortable bed. The staff were accommodating with our baby. We were there after a friend’s nearby wedding and would recommend staying. Such a shame we didn’t get to try the pizzas, the menu looked great.

The curtains let in a lot of light, so the room was very bright in the morning. It was a little small, but fair for the price and good value overall. We stayed for a wedding, which seems to be a common reason to visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast had plenty of choice, and the hotel was nice and quiet during our stay.

The atmosphere was lovely, with original artwork all over the walls, all for sale, and a creative, bohemian feel that’s hard to come by. I also met the family behind the place and had a brilliant, thought-provoking conversation about the world today. The pizza at The Bar in Hook was the reason I popped in, and it was so good: a crisp base, fresh ingredients, and loads of flavour. Easily one of the best I’ve had in ages. It feels like a proper hidden gem, with real food and people. If you’re near Hook, make time for it.
