Innkeeper's Lodge Norfolk Broads, Horning

We really enjoyed the setting, the welcoming staff, and the lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious too. The rooms are looking a little tired, though we understand they’re due to be refurbished soon.

Christina stayed late to help me charge my car after I arrived in the evening, and she was so helpful. Sophie looked after us in the morning and made sure the kids were all right. The food was delicious too. Great location!

Breakfast was gorgeous, and the pub downstairs served lovely food. I loved staying at The Swan Inn, Horning, especially the beautiful view from my room.

The room might have been nice if it had been clean, but our stay didn’t work out at all. There were bird droppings on the floor, sofa, and bed, and when my wife looked up she saw two pigeons sitting on the lampshade. She’s afraid of birds, so that was awful for her. The manager on duty and the barman came up and removed them, then told us they were gone as if we could stay in a room still covered in bird mess. I asked for another room because of the obvious health risk, but they were fully booked, which I understand. I needed a refund because I couldn’t leave my young children there, including our six month old. The manager seemed surprised by the request. They were pleasant enough and did apologise, though I felt like I was causing a hassle by asking for my money back. We also couldn’t eat there. We arrived at 19.45 for a table booked at 20.15 and were told they’d run out of food. Nobody had let us know before we came. This is only one star based on our own experience of not being able to stay or have dinner. It may have been higher if we’d been able to do either.
