They gave me the quiet room I’d asked for, even though a wedding and band were on at the pub downstairs that Saturday. I expected some noise in a room above a pub, so I wore earplugs and slept well in a comfortable bed. The stay was great value, with tea and coffee, a kettle, an en-suite and towels provided. Staff were really friendly, and getting in, checking in and checking out were all easy and secure. I’d recommend staying here.

The beer was well kept, and the pub food was good and reasonably priced.

Howden Town is lovely to wander around, especially by the minster and park, and it’s well placed for York and the coast. We found clean rooms, a comfy bed and plenty of parking, along with great food and friendly staff and locals. It’s a lovely pub, and I’m glad we found it. We’ll definitely make it our regular spot for a weekend away.

The breakfast was excellent. My only small criticism was that the sausage should have come from a local butcher to suit the setting. Everything was clean, and the staff were polite and accommodating. I enjoyed my stay all the same 😀

I’m there fairly often on Friday afternoons. The bar staff are friendly and the prices are competitive. Dogs are allowed, but please keep them well behaved. There’s a fenced outdoor area with a hard surface and nice wooden tables and chairs. It catches the sun too. The private car park has plenty of room, though the entrance is a bit narrow and the speed ramps are fierce. Inside, the space has a nice mix of modern and traditional, with lots of tables and locals enjoying a drink. It faces the High Street, right by the historic town.
