Comfort Inn Hull

A basic hotel within walking distance of Hull FC stadium, with shops nearby and the train and bus stations close at hand.

It’s an OK hotel for a budget stay, though it isn't cheap. I was concerned by the policy of photocopying ID, such as a driving licence or passport. I don't know why a hotel needs to see that for UK citizens, as I've never been asked elsewhere, and I see no reason to keep a copy. They told me I couldn't have a room key without one, so be aware.

The place was dirty and noisy. Even after I asked every day, they wouldn't change the bedding or empty the bins for over three days. People were staying there for months, and the smell of weed and alcohol in the corridor was overwhelming. Never again.

My wife eventually drove up from Lincolnshire, and the hosts and manager went out of their way to make me comfortable. We were given a beautiful, modern, clean A 1 room that compared favourably with the best places I’ve stayed. I was in Hull to visit my daughter when I lost my credit cards. Unlike the nearby hotels, the owners of The Gilmore Hotel couldn't have been lovelier. You don't meet that kind of trust and kindness every day. At 60 and without my cards, their help restored my faith in human goodness. I’ll stay here whenever I’m in Hull and can recommend them 200%. Thank you again, and God bless you.
