Park View

The bed was very comfortable, and the room was spacious, with an en-suite shower room and tea and coffee facilities. There’s barely anything in the room, though, so much of that space feels wasted. It’s fine for a night or so, but I wouldn’t stay longer. The place wasn’t very clean and felt really draughty, with lots of cracks in the walls. There’s no staff on site, so when I arrived I had to call to get the code for the key box outside.

They refused a confirmed Booking.com reservation at 10pm, then wouldn’t refund me after I left a bad review. That’s really out of order and not allowed in the UK. Foreign-owned, not Hull people!

We’ve been back since my first visit, and the Park View rooms still offer good value in a prime spot for Hull’s attractions. I can recommend staying here, and I hope they keep doing well. There’s no breakfast included, so bring cereal or try one of the many nearby cafes. Parking is included and very good, a real bonus since street parking around this popular area can be hit and miss. The location puts you close to Pearson Park and Princess Avenue, with its indie bars, traditional pubs and restaurants all within walking distance. Our park view room was spacious and clean, and the building, a converted Victorian mansion style property, has been done to a good standard. Some rooms have cooking facilities, while others are suite style with a table and seating area for families. It was warm when we visited, and the hot water was very hot, so check the temperature before washing. The owners were polite and welcoming, and paying by card using details taken over the phone made check-in easy. The price was sensible for the quality and location. It’s never dull in Hull! We’ll be back.

Good value, clean, and handy for a stay. Being able to use the well-equipped kitchen was a bonus.
