We wanted peace and quiet away from the world, and these cottages were just the thing. They’re immaculately clean and so peaceful, with a great location for getting to most places. We went to Flamborough Head one day, Whitby another, and also visited a model village and Hornsea. We saw lots of cyclists too, so it’s a great spot if you’re keen on cycling. Thanks to Charlotte and her team for a great stay. Sorry we forgot to empty the fridge :)

We came for Christmas and loved it. The cottages are beautiful and homely, and seem great for all sorts of occasions. We couldn’t complain, and we’ll definitely be back. I’ve left a detailed review on another site for anyone who wants the full details. We had no problem with the WiFi, despite what some people say. The local pubs are nice, just what you’d expect in a village. Thanks again, see you next time 😊

A lovely place if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle without giving up luxury. The cottages are lovely, the location is great and the views are great too. There are lots of cats around, including a three legged one who’s the friendliest, nicest cat you’ll ever meet. I’ll definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway.

The owners were lovely and welcoming, and the place is pet friendly, with extremely friendly resident Sheep and Cat. The cottage was clean and cosy, with quality fittings and really nice decor. It’s in a gorgeous spot with stunning views, just a 10 minute drive from Beverley and its many shops and restaurants. Highly recommend. We’ll definitely stay again.

The cottage was remote, a long way from town along winding roads, so walking into Newbald would be quite a trek. It’s a working farm, so you really get a feel for farm life. My daughter enjoyed the sheep and cows, and the lorries that rumbled past the patio doors often. Once, during tree cutting, my husband had to move branches from the road so we could leave and not be late for an event. We stayed for two long spells, three weeks and three and a half weeks, while our house was extensively renovated and completely unfit to live in. We were due to return after two weeks out of the country, but the owner cancelled with just four days’ notice and no explanation. When I pressed for a reason, I was told our dog had supposedly gone upstairs and that the carpets needed professional cleaning because of dog hairs. Most dog owners know hair gets everywhere. The owner should understand that, having had a dog themselves. Their dog repeatedly taunted ours through the patio doors and tried to jump into our car while I was restraining ours and getting my young daughter out. It seemed to roam freely most of the time, to avoid it barking when restrained. I’m a dog lover and didn’t mind, but I’m not sure my dog felt the same. If dog hair is a hygiene concern, they should either not have dogs or set aside some of the six cottages as dog friendly. I’d have liked to see evidence of the state of the carpet, because I don’t believe it was as bad as described, especially as our dog moults very little. Sadly, I think a double booking is more likely. The WiFi was extremely poor. I assume we were the guests mentioned in a previous review, as I heard the owner joking about young people and their WiFi needs. Internet is essential to most people’s lives and jobs these days, especially when they’re not lucky enough to be on holiday. If you advertise it, you should provide it. The cottage equipment was okay, and we brought some of our own things for the long stay. The first time there was just a dribble of handsoap, the next time there was none, and the loo roll supply was meagre. There was no cleaning equipment, so you’d need to bring your own to clean the cooking surfaces or toilet. The cottage wasn’t properly cleaned. My daughter found plenty of muck, as toddlers do, and I did too when searching for a lost toy. I immediately regretted looking under the cushions and inside the sofa bed. I also had to remove a thankfully unused tampon from my daughter after she found it somewhere in the cottage. I kept her and our dog away from the working farm so we wouldn’t inconvenience the owners. Our only complaints had been the internet and one time the fridge stopped working, though it fixed itself. We did all our own laundry for the towels and bedding, and did the cleaning too, which wasn’t a problem. Still, the owners got seven weeks of rent with only two cleans needed, so I’d have expected more professionalism and thoughtfulness. They could at least have cancelled more than four days ahead, knowing our situation.
