The room was set up beautifully for my sister’s 60th birthday, with plenty of seats for everyone. Louise made sure there were extra chairs as guests arrived. We had a table of 16, and no one complained about the cost or quality of the drinks. Bar prices were very reasonable, and the drinks were good. Even when the bar was busy and the odd undesirable was rude and demanding, the staff handled it remarkably well, staying polite and professional throughout. There was plenty of buffet food, and it was topped up as people ate. The choice was fantastic, the quality high and everything was enjoyable. There were a lot of overloaded plates around the room, and again, no one at our large table had anything negative to say. The DJ took account of what guests liked, and his playlist suited everyone. People were on the dance floor all night. It was a relaxed, comfortable evening, and the vast majority seemed to be having a fantastic time celebrating my sister Pauline’s 60th. We attended the party at Embassy on Saturday and would like to thank the club and all the staff working that night for making it special.

My friend was booked in until tomorrow but checked out this morning after Louise rudely shouted “oi” at him last night. He was walking through the function room to go for a cigarette, and she was so rude to him.

The customer service was appalling. I’ve never been greeted with “oi” before. Surely they could have said “excuse me” instead. Management didn’t even apologise or address what happened, which reflects badly on them and on Louise.

The function was well worth it, and the room itself was spot on. Staff were accommodating and polite. But I wouldn’t stay overnight here again. The bed was dusty and the bathroom stunk. The room was what you’d expect from a 2-star place, though a few easy fixes could improve it, like painting the marked skirting boards. £68 felt expensive for what we got, even allowing for it being a Saturday night. When I booked, the manager didn’t mention that the function room couldn’t be accessed from 1400-1700, so we had to decorate in a rush.

I was worried the function room above us might be noisy, since it was booked both nights, but we had no issues at all. The bedroom was very clean and had an en suite. I stayed for two nights while visiting a family member, and I’ll definitely stay here again on future visits. We had breakfast at Gingers, where Sarah was happy to make me something outside the usual choices and couldn’t have been more accommodating. Gingers also has a lovely ambiance.
