The gold lodge was lovely and spacious, just right for the four of us, and we loved being right by the beach. There's plenty for kids, including free soft play, 2p machines, indoor swimming and evening entertainment. We had a great short break, even though the pool felt freezing to us. The entertainment was good during the day too, and I imagine summer would be even better. This was our second visit, but food was a big letdown this time. The quality at the main Ambers restaurant was especially poor, and both the look and taste seemed budget. The kids and I barely ate, so it felt like a waste. The food at the fountain bar, a bit further away, was slightly better. I also found the sticky tables and chairs uncomfortable. I scrubbed them myself, but they stayed sticky, so it wasn't a matter of cleanliness. It was quiet at this time of year and some services weren't available, even though there were enough people around during half term. Next time we might return, but we'll definitely avoid buying food at their restaurants.

Just a five minute walk to the beach, and the seafront path takes about 15 minutes to reach Hunstanton. There are nice local shops and plenty of places to eat. The resort has caravans, lodges and camping pitches, all on well-kept grounds, plus a bar, restaurant, golf club, pools, gym and the best entertainment shows I've seen anywhere. It can get noisy in some properties near the entertainment centre, and the accommodation is on the pricey side for this kind of stay. You also pay to use lockers at the pool and gym, with another charge if you need to open one and lock it again. It seems very family-focused during the main holiday season.

The caravans were lovely and clean, and there are a little shop, restaurant and café on site. From the back entrance it's a 15 minute walk to the heart of Hunstanton, with several arcades and a fun fair nearby. Easy to find, and a good holiday spot, ducks included! The only small flaw was a gap above our caravan door.

We had a lovely stay at searles. The caravan was clean, and the facilities inside were good. The gym was nice and clean too, and there was plenty to do. The entertainment was great, with bingo as a highlight. The bed was very uncomfortable, though. Its strange plastic coating felt like sleeping on pooled tar. The caravans are very close together, so we could hear noise from other people inside ours. Lots of the arcade machines were out of order.

This was our second visit to Searles, for a ska weekend with family, and the atmosphere was great. Good service, and the supermarket, pub and beach are all a five minute walk away. Would definitely recommend.
