The owners were really friendly, and the views were beautiful. Our room at the Shellbrooke was small but clean, with everything we needed. The shower was a letdown, though: weak pressure, and getting the temperature right took a lot of fiddling. We had a drink at the bar before heading out, but it was a bit awkward that it was locked unless someone wanted a drink, and it felt slightly pricey. We didn’t make it up for breakfast, so I can’t comment on that. Checkout was 10:30, but someone knocked three times between 9:50 and 10:15 to clean the room. I’ve worked in hotels, so I’m not usually fussy, but it felt like we were being pushed out too early. Otherwise, a great place for a short stay.

It was a comfortable, very clean stay, and breakfast was great. I enjoyed the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, and the full English was superb too. They were happy to provide variations.

We were here for a long work stay and had a lovely time. The hosts made us feel very welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. Everything was lovely and clean, and breakfast was gorgeous. We’d definitely come back.

We had a splendid weekend away. The room was comfortable and clean, with an en suite, and the proprietors were pleasant. Many thanks, it was really great.

Breakfast was first class, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The guest house was lovely, with clean, well-presented rooms. There’s plenty to do around the area, and I’d highly recommend a break here.
