Hythe is quiet, but it's just right for a couple wanting time together and a bit of privacy. The Red lion has so much to offer, with calm weekdays and lively weekends, really the best of both worlds. And the locals were so inviting. I had fantastic conversations with everyone there, and was blown away by how friendly they all were. Respect to everyone in Hythe!

The food was good and everyone was friendly. The room didn't block much sound from next door, though. They got back around 11:30 and kept talking until about 4 in the morning. The man had a really deep, booming voice.

I live nearby, so I come in often, and the food was amazing again. I had the leek and potato soup of the day with focaccia. It would've been easier to spread that lovely butter if the bread had been sliced instead of coming in two big chunks. Still thoroughly enjoyed it. Xx

The desserts were really enjoyable, but the Christmas dinner itself was a letdown. There were two of us, and although we'd pre-ordered, the waits between courses were long. The starter was absolutely tiny. Our plates weren't consistent either: mine had stuffing balls, while the other had none. The turkey was awful, tasting like cheap Bernard Matthews turkey roll slices. At Christmas, the turkey should be the highlight, but unfortunately it wasn't good at all.

We had a lovely meal for eight at The Red Lion with the family. Everything tasted delicious and the service was great. They even brought the birthday girl a cake and a glass of wine, such a nice touch. Highly recommend!!
