The Old Railway Hotel

The pub had a fantastic atmosphere, and the owners were friendly and clearly care about the place. My room was spotless and comfortable too. Whether you’re there for a drink or an overnight stay, it delivers. I’d recommend it highly.

The huge garden was lovely, and parking was available. The pub was busy, with well-priced drinks. The staff were really lovely, and the rooms were comfortable. I only stopped briefly but enjoyed it. I didn’t try the food, though it looked good, and breakfast was apparently great. Check-out is at 10am. My sat nav struggled with the road, but setting it to the garden center brought me up the private road.

The food was freshly cooked, very good, and came out quickly. There was a booking mix-up involving the previous owner, but they sorted it out. The owner was polite and helpful. My room was good, with clean sheets and coffee and biscuits provided. The mattress could use a topper for comfort, and fluffier pillows would help. It’s a very good place to stay, and wouldn’t need much more to make it great.

The site was spotless, quiet, and miles from anything. Staff were friendly and helpful when I arrived, and a few grass pitches were free, though two were said to be reserved. I didn’t think the club allowed pitch reservations, unless you know the stewards 🤔. Would I come back? No.
