The Devonian

The Devonian is just minutes from town and the harbour, and we found free street parking without any trouble, though parking can be a little tricky. My husband and I spent four nights there over the first May long weekend, and can't wait to come back. Our room was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed and a nice view. Terence and Piper made us feel welcome from arrival to departure, and their suggestions for walks, places to eat, wild swim spots, and running routes were much appreciated. The house is beautiful, with distinctive room themes throughout, including the breakfast room, reading room, and sauna. There are so many thoughtful extras: delicious cooked and continental breakfast included, a film in the cinema room each evening, books, puzzles and games in the cosy reading room, a micro gym, a bar, and a big garden. You can also brew yourself one of the lovely infused teas during the day.

Piper and Terence are lovely hosts, and breakfast was great. We only spent one night here on the way to Lundy, but it was a lovely start to the holiday. The place is beautifully maintained, very clean, stylish, comfortable, and quiet. Highly recommended.

We'd definitely stay here again if we came back to Ilfracoombe. The hosts were welcoming, knowledgeable and professional, with a good sense of humour that made the stay complete. The rooms feel luxurious and are decorated to a high standard. Breakfast was creative, with choices for everyone. What we tried was cooked perfectly, with quality favoured over quantity. The attention to detail runs through every part of the “Devonian”.

My single room was just right, with a good amount of space, everything I needed, and plenty of tea and coffee choices. It was clean, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. Piper and Terence were fantastic, very welcoming and attentive, and couldn't have done more. Breakfast was included, had lots of options, and was fantastic. It's a short walk to the centre of Ilfracombe, and parking is available at the property if you're good at reversing 😉. Great value for money. I'd highly recommend it and stay again if I'm in the area. Thanks to you both, and keep up the great hosting at The Devonian.
