Ilsington Country House Hotel & Spa

We keep coming back, this was our sixth visit, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It’s a lovely hotel in a great spot for the moors. Our room was clean and very comfortable, and the food was a high standard. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they make a real fuss of any dogs staying there. It’s dog friendly too.

We had a really enjoyable Sunday stopover and would love to return. The spa was very good, and the rooms were comfortable with that country house feel. Although the main restaurant was understandably closed in January, the food was still excellent. We ate in the bar, where the bar menu was great and there were also some dishes normally served in the main restaurant. The staff were attentive and gave us personal service from beginning to end, which you don’t see often these days and makes such a difference as a guest. Well done to everyone, highly recommended.

We spent plenty of time unwinding in the spa, and I was impressed by the range of treatments. The hydrotherapy pool is one of the best I’ve experienced. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were delicious, and the team were genuinely friendly and down-to-earth. Ellie on reception deserves a special mention for making us feel welcome. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, with thoughtful touches like homemade flapjack bites beside the coffee machine. I’d highly recommend Ilsington Country House and Spa for a night away in Dartmoor.

Breakfast was very good, and dinner in the restaurant was excellent. The menus feel carefully put together, and the food is an absolute treat. We had a lovely stay, with nice, cosy rooms. I’d definitely recommend it.
