The drying room might be the best one ever built. This is a cracking stop on the Cape Wrath Trail, especially for walkers, and the staff are super friendly. Hot showers have normal taps instead of timer ones, and there are pizzas, snacks, Firepot meals and beers. Everything was extremely clean.

The shared lounge had a nice community feel, with free WiFi, games and a TV area where people chatted over tea. The complimentary breakfast was a good start to the day, with toast, cereal and hot drinks. I stayed in a private room with views of Conival, Canisp and Quinag, and the clean shared bathrooms and self-catering kitchen had the essentials. The drying room came in handy after a rainy hike. The lodge is in a beautiful, quiet setting, a good base for hiking or geology tours. Staff were friendly and shared local trail tips, and even put together some spontaneous gatherings. It’s in a Grade B listed former Manse, which gives it a bit of historic character alongside the modern comforts. There are also dorms, family rooms, a cottage and a shepherd’s hut. Good value, and a memorable place to stay in Assynt.

The lodge has amazing views, and the staff were really friendly. Breakfast was great too. Everything was clean and tidy, from the shared toilets and showers to the well-stocked kitchen. Highly recommend it.

The shop had a surprisingly good range for such an isolated spot, with very reasonable prices. The place itself was lovely and very clean, in an amazing location, and the staff were friendly. A few cubicle doors in the communal shower area didn’t close properly or had no locks, though. Apart from that, it was better than I expected for the location. Thanks for a great stay, it seems like a great place for large groups.

We booked a dorm for one night during a storm because our tent wouldn’t have survived, and got lucky enough to have the room to ourselves. It was clean and comfortable, the staff were lovely, and the facilities and location were great. Good value for a night, and there’s a small shop for picking up a few bits for tea.
