Armadale Guest House

We stayed for two days. Check-in and checkout were self-service, and the room heaters were poor. They stopped several times during the night and didn't warm the room well. Apart from that, everything was fine. It's very close to the railway station and business areas.

I was very happy here. The location was perfect, with a quick walk into town, and the price felt very reasonable. The rooms, towels, and bedding were clean, and the place had a nice character and ambience. The caretaker was extremely friendly and looked after us well. I don't agree with the earlier review saying you'd need a microscope to see the smoked salmon at breakfast. I thought the amount was just right, and it was a nice light breakfast with lots of things to add. I don't get why people need huge piles of food on their plates. After an expensive dump in Edinburgh, staying at the Armadale was a refreshing treat that honestly cheered me up. I'd recommend it to friends and family.

I chose this single room after looking at hostels, since it was a better price. Everything was super clean, including the bathroom, and the service was great. They let me drop off my bag early and leave it for a few hours the next day before my bus. There's a little kettle, free tea and coffee, and a TV in the room. The location is perfect, close to everything.

The manager was helpful and polite, and it's easy to walk into town and down to the beautiful river. The rooms were clean but pretty tight, and the lively street made it quite noisy. Breakfast wasn't great: just three tiny pieces of smoked salmon, plus low-quality budget cereal, fruit, and pastries. There's no parking, so you have to pay and walk.
