There was no breakfast, so I don’t think it should be called a B&B. Our room had no tea or coffee, just one chocolate sachet. The carpets and outside were dirty, there were hairs in the shower, and the outdoor ashtray had cigarette butts that looked months old. The bathroom was poorly equipped, with nowhere to put a wash bag except on the floor. They seem to do as little as possible, yet charge over £100 a night for the worst room. This place is a disgrace to Scotland and should be closed down. The house feels like it’s owned by ghosts. You can’t reach anyone. The number on the website and front door just cuts out, no one is ever around, and emails go unanswered. The front door latch is extremely sensitive and locks itself, so you can’t unlock it from outside. We were on the ground floor and got woken at 11.30pm and midnight by people shouting and knocking because they couldn’t get in. I let them in, poor things. There’s a sign inside saying not to touch the lock button, but it can happen by accident. They should buy a lock for £30 and change it.

The booking and all communication were handled by email and WhatsApp. They responded well and took care of any questions. It’s close to Inverness Train station. Would I visit again? Yes.

The hosts were lovely and happy to accommodate us, even asking about our individual breakfast preferences. The room was perfectly satisfactory. I’d been a little unsure about sharing a bathroom, but it was only shared among three bedrooms on the top floor, so it wasn’t an issue. The Inverness train or bus station is just a 10 minute walk away.

The hosts made us feel welcome and took care of everything we needed. Thank you, Frank, for the tasty Scottish breakfast! The house was beautiful and cosy, with spacious, clean rooms. We’d definitely stay again next time we’re in the city.
