Drumdevan Country House Hotel

There’s no restaurant or bar, despite the country house description; it’s rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The rooms are roomy, clean and pleasant, with a kettle, tea and coffee, and a fridge. Wine glasses are available, along with tubs of instant porridge for breakfast if you want to help yourself. It’s dog friendly and there’s plenty of parking.

The peaceful spot on the edge of Inverness made it easy to sleep with the window open a little. The bed was soft and cosy, and the large room had tea and coffee making facilities plus a fridge. It’s a gorgeous house. A few paint patches could use touching up where repairs have been done, and the shower sealant needs renewing as mould is starting to appear there. Even so, I’d recommend staying here in the Inverness area.

Room 2 looked much more like what the photos led me to expect. Room 1, though, had water damage in the bathroom and a really bad smell. There was clearly mould there too, which wasn’t acceptable at this price.

We were let down by the accommodation we’d booked and needed somewhere at short notice. Andrew was very helpful and gave us a lovely, clean room with cooking facilities. I’m really grateful for the service.
