The Redcliffe

We’d only planned to spend one night in Inverness, but after checking in we decided straight away to stay for two. Our room looked out at the castle and had a small kitchen area, and we could park the car. It was an easy walk to both the castle and the river walk. The staff were really helpful, and breakfast was good. We’d happily stay again.

The hotel is spread over quite a large area, and when we arrived there were no twin rooms available. The woman at reception was very helpful and moved us to a two-bed apartment at no extra cost. It was a pleasant surprise: spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Inverness centre is very close, with everything an easy walk away. We stayed one night with a friend while in town for the evening, and were very happy with the booking for the price.

Our room in the townhouse was a roomy double deluxe, quiet and with a great view. It made up for the very hard bed, which kept us from getting a good night's sleep. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the staff were friendly. A lovely stay apart from the bed.

We found the hotel easily, and check-in was quick for our short city break. But room 10 downstairs was much smaller than we expected from the booking photos, and the bathroom was tiny too. The shower felt like an upright coffin. The view was just a wall. The mirror was cracked, some bulbs needed replacing, and the rough furniture needed sanding and varnishing, or replacing. There was also a crack in the bathroom sink with a shoddy repair. Doors slammed through the night, so it was noisy. We wouldn’t return for the money we paid.
