Craigshannoch Lodge We picked this place over other options for a weekend because of the hot tub, but that part of the stay was awful. It seemed dirty, unsanitised and unchlorinated. At first there was a strange smell, and afterwards a nasty odour lingered on our skin. We were worried we might get ill. Switching on the jets made the smell much worse, so we stopped using them. The experience spoiled what could have been a nice stay and left us questioning the hygiene of the whole place.

We had a brilliant hen weekend at Bennachie lodge, where we stayed for two nights recently. The beds were so comfortable and everything was very clean. The hot tub was ready for us when we arrived, and there was already a speaker there, which was a bonus since we’d worried nobody had brought one. We saw Graham on the morning we left, and he was such a friendly, lovely guy. We’ll definitely recommend this place. Thank you!

The two large lodges were just right for my hen do, and I’ve been talking about the stay ever since. The big living area and well equipped kitchen worked really well, and we had a roomy outdoor deck with a BBQ and hot tub. I especially liked that two bedrooms had their own bathrooms, so the whole group didn’t have to queue for showers or the toilet. I’d love to come back with my partner and try the smaller lodges.

Garioch Lodge was peaceful and lovely, and we enjoyed our stay there last year. It did need a deep clean, though. There were dead wasps all over, and when we vacuumed them up, the vacuum smelled. The oven needed cleaning too. The football table was broken, with no balls available even if we’d wanted to play, and the red BBQ was rusty and had seen better days. The building itself could use a little TLC.

We had a lovely time at Craigshannoch lodge. The other cabins didn’t feel too close because of how they’re positioned and the privacy fences. The BBQ and fire hot tub were great, but the hot water from the taps stopped working on the second day, so we boiled the kettle to wash up. That was manageable. I had trouble sleeping because the feather pillows and bedding set off my allergies badly, and the beds were very soft. I’d have liked a choice of synthetic or feather bedding. A bread knife and tin opener would’ve been handy too ☺️
