The food was all locally sourced, and every dish was delicious. We had a great time at Fowlescombe, where the warm, welcoming staff made us feel at home right away. We chose to eat at the communal table and enjoyed meeting some lovely people. The farm is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature, with its own private feel, while still being close to the coast for outings and Dartmoor for walks. We’ll definitely be back.

The meals were fine-dining quality, and the farm-to-table approach made the fresh produce grown there feel especially meaningful. We could talk with the chefs as they prepared the dishes and explained them. We also toured the working farm with a friendly farmer who shared its sustainable practices, and were delighted to meet the animals. We have a particular interest in regenerative farming. My husband and I came from Australia for a long-awaited UK trip and spent two nights at Fowlescombe Farm in February 2026. We only wished we could stay longer. From arrival, the welcome was warm, our luggage was carried and our laundry taken care of. The room was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with luxury furnishings, linen and useful extras. The bed was hands-down the most comfortable we’ve slept in. Pim and the whole staff team were exceptionally attentive. We can’t speak highly enough of them and will absolutely return.

We spent one night at Fowlescombe Farm for a weekend away, though I could easily have stayed two weeks. I travel for work and often stay in five-star boutique hotels around the world, so this place had plenty to live up to. It’s honestly one of the best I’ve visited. The style and luxury feel balanced by a modest, genuine atmosphere, with none of it feeling pretentious. Everyone made us feel at home straight away, and the staff were knowledgeable, passionate and treated us like old friends. The food was outstanding: farm-to-table, cooked with care by top chefs in the open kitchen right in front of you. We loved seeing where it came from, gathering eggs from the hens and picking apples for the piglets. There are walking trails around the farm, and afterwards we warmed up with board games by the cosy fire. Part of me wants to keep Fowlescombe a secret, but if you’re weighing it against other well-known countryside-chic hotels in Devon, choose this one. You won’t regret it.

The kitchen team were wonderful and couldn’t have been more attentive with our kids, Matilda and Jenson. The food was brilliant, and the rooms had top-notch attention to detail. We had a wonderful stay and it’s a great base for visiting Burgh island and Salcombe. We’ll be back.

We finished our babymoon with a weekend at Fowlescombe, and it was a brilliant end to the week. The place really did feel like a home away from home, with a lovely mix of luxury and homeliness. You can wander around in comfy clothes and still feel you’re somewhere special. Our Loft Suite was thoughtfully furnished and designed, and the bathroom was stunning. The staff were available around the clock on WhatsApp and did everything they could to fix any concern or issue quickly. We felt so well looked after. We usually like to head out and explore, but there was plenty to do on the estate: gin tasting, yoga, a farm tour and marked walks, which were lovely even in wet weather. The food was the highlight. We ate at the chef’s table each meal and chatted with Elly and the other chefs, who were happy to answer questions and tell us about the produce and farm they’re so proud of. We can’t wait to return with the baby!
