The Old Sun Hotel

The steak and ale pie is the thing to order at The Old Sun Inn. I don't think I've had a better one: loads of succulent, tasty meat, not too much pastry, with chips, peas and lovely gravy. We could tell from the other diners that its reputation is well known. There was a nice atmosphere and a real fire in the corner. The staff were cheerful, but nobody checked back during the meal, so we had to go to the bar for extra gravy. It came quickly, and that small lapse didn't spoil a very enjoyable evening. There's a car park across the road, slightly tucked between a couple of buildings, and it had plenty of space when we visited. We'll definitely return.

Four adults stayed overnight and wished we'd booked more nights. The staff were amazing and made us feel right at home. The rooms were amazing too. We'd definitely come back, and I'd highly recommend staying here.

We stopped for a late lunch and had warm, delicious ciabattas with salad, chips and coleslaw. We tried the hog roast and apple, and the pesto, cheese and tomato. There was a great choice on the menu. The pub was busy, but we found a quiet little nook to the side. Staff were friendly and kept the tables clean. Thanks for kindly letting us park here as guests of the Weavers Guesthouse!

Book a table ahead, as this cosy food pub gets busy and crowded. The service was wonderful, and the food was delicious with generous portions. Prices were average for the area and fair for the quality. The Sunday roast platter was really good, and the gravy was to die for.
