The staff were polite and well-mannered, and the rooms are simple, functional and have everything you need: a small bathroom, free Wi-Fi and a big-screen TV. Coffee, tea, water, chocolate and biscuits are included too. The furnishings could do with an update, especially things like the shower knob, though everything works. It's an historic mansion in the village, dating from the 18th century, if I'm not mistaken. The location is excellent, up on the main street and close to the Brontë museum. It's not as luxurious as you might expect from the star rating.

We dropped in at 7 on a Monday evening, when most other pubs and restaurants were already closed. The game pie and steak pie were both fantastic. Lovely pub, delicious food, great customer service and a banging playlist. Thanks for a lovely meal!

A cosy, quirky pub in a lovely old building, with its own private car park at the side. We stayed one night. The room had a lovely view, though a low light would be a good addition. The floorboards creak throughout the property, which might annoy some people, but I found it added to the charm. The family staff at reception were friendly and sorted out the missing batteries for the remote. Breakfast wasn't included, but the varied evening menu looked really good. The ale I tried wasn't great, though I'd definitely stay again.

The location is excellent, so I might stay again, but the rooms generally need updating. The bed was absolutely awful and the shower wasn't great. Service was civil, but not very good. Nobody pointed us to the car park even after we said we couldn't find it, and few of the staff made eye contact or smiled.

The rooms were clean, comfortable and well appointed, and the bar had plenty of atmosphere. From our room we could see down the Main Street towards the Black Bull. Breakfast is cooked to order, so be patient. It's worth waiting for. The Old White Lion is the place to go for food and drink. And look up the story of Room 7, which is said to be haunted. First things first, the Steak Pie and chips is amazing. I first had it in August 2022 while recovering from a life-threatening injury, and that steak pie pulled me through.
