I popped in for a quick half on a quiet Friday lunchtime while I waited for my bus. The barman asked whether I was eating; when I said I just wanted a drink, he asked, "so you just want to use the toilet?" I didn't, and that wasn't why I came in. I get that people might use the toilets without buying anything, but I was actually ordering a drink. Even a quick "sorry, lots of people do that" would have been fine. Instead, I was left feeling pretty put out 🤷‍♀️

The staff and owner were brilliant hosts, and the food arrived hot and tasted very nice, even with a fairly large group of us. It got very busy, so booking seems sensible at peak times. Prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is relaxed, and there's outdoor seating for a lazy summer day. We came for Sunday lunch as a family and were pleasantly surprised by how much parking there was. The decor is a bit dated. It's also a nice spot for a drink after a walk by the canal or river.

We'd been in for drinks before, and finally tried the food last night because it always looked so good. It lived up to that: tasty, nicely presented and generous portions. The staff were really friendly and the service was great. There's a dog friendly room too, if you want to bring your dog. We'll definitely eat here again, highly recommend it.

We stopped by after walking along the canal and river. The beer garden was lovely in the sunshine, and the food was great. It's a nice setting, with a good free car park.

After hiring a Pennine Cruisers canal boat for the day, we came here for a really good lunch. It's about a five minute walk from the canal and there was a great range of dishes, including lots of vegetarian choices. I had the delicious veggie meatball sub. The staff were attentive and lovely, and I'd definitely recommend it.
