The pool and sauna were a lovely way to unwind after walking in the Lakes, and breakfast each morning was peaceful, with ducks visible from the dining room overlooking the lake. We stayed two nights, Friday and Saturday, at the Damson Dene Hotel in Crossways in the Lake District on a wowcher package. It was fantastic value, including bed and breakfast and a dinner allowance each night. Our room was on the small side, but comfortable and had what we needed after a long day out. The whole arrival was hassle free, with plenty of parking and a welcoming, helpful gentleman at reception. The hotel has a cosy traditional feel, with a log burning fire in the lounge. Guests relaxing there, some with their dogs, made it feel warm and homely. Both dinners were exceptional. On the first night I had steak and ale pie with mashed potatoes and lots of gravy, a hearty portion and delicious. The second night’s lamb shank was huge and beautifully cooked. I told reception the food was 5 out of 5 and couldn’t be faulted, especially for the package price. Breakfast was just as good. Nothing let us down. Lovely staff, great food and a cosy hotel. We had a really good weekend and would return.

The food was exceptional, and breakfast was fresh and tasty in the restaurant overlooking the garden. The hotel has a relaxed, friendly feel, and both you and your dog are made very welcome. It’s in a peaceful location, about 10 minutes from Lake Windermere. The rooms are pleasant and clean, and staff were consistently helpful, polite and professional. We’d happily recommend it and will be back later this year. Well done, everyone 😊

The spa was open, with access to the steam room, sauna and hot tub. We also booked a one hour massage with Sharon, which was excellent and good value. Dogs are welcome, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was extremely good too. We had a great weekend and couldn’t fault the hotel.

We had dinner there on the first night, and it was amazing, well beyond what I expected. The staff were so lovely and accommodating, and the place was really clean. They’d even grit the walkways in the morning if needed. There was so much thought and effort in the stay, and I definitely want to come back. We stayed in one of the cabins round the back, with our own little area and a hot tub. It was lovely.

The location was perfect, and the food was absolutely amazing. Staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the cosy log fire in reception made it feel inviting as soon as we arrived. The bar is a good size with a lovely atmosphere. We also had the nice surprise of a possible upgrade to breakfast in bed, which made the stay even more special. Highly recommend.
