Watermill Inn & Brewing Co

Four of us stopped for food on the way home from the Lake District. The meals were all delicious, well cooked and full of flavour, with good portions at reasonable prices. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything was homemade, including the battered fish and chips. I’d recommend it if you’re in the area.

The staff were lovely and friendly, which made the stay even more pleasant. Our room was immaculate and had a gorgeous balcony view. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and well cooked. Couldn’t fault the stay at Watermill inn, and we’ll definitely return. 10 out of 10.

A friend recommended this place for food, and we arrived hungry at 3:30pm, between lunch and tea. The local real ales were fantastic, and the steak pie, pork chop and steak were brilliant. The mashed potatoes were to die for. Highly recommend coming for food and a few pints. Next time I’ll make sure I’m not driving so I can try a few more beers.

This Inn still gives you a warm welcome, with the hard work and clear sense of what customers need that it takes to keep standards up in a busy National Park. It was a pioneer of the classic Lake District pub: good value, filling and delicious meals, its own beer brewed onsite, and a range of traditional beers. You could get a takeaway or pay more for fine dining, but the Lake District has plenty of great pubs like this. You could have a fine holiday trying a dozen different ones. Start here.
