Stoneleigh Park Lodge

The evening food was okay, but I wouldn't stay here again. Cooking oil or fat smell hung around the reception and bar, and the room furniture, especially in room 103, was worn out. The rooms felt very dated, with stains on the carpet, walls and chair, plus a damaged bathroom countertop. The bed was so soft I slept terribly. Grossly overpriced.

The garden rooms had a step-free, flat route to the breakfast room, and parking was good. The big TV was another plus, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel and room had a strange smell, though. The loo seat was broken at one hinge and there was black mould by the bath. Breakfast choices were limited, and the hot dishes weren't bland. There was no staff around at breakfast, and at check-in the receptionist barely looked up to welcome me. Handy for visiting the exhibition area in the park.

The reception staff were friendly, and the location was handy for events. The room wasn't very clean, and the bed was so uncomfortable that both sides sloped toward the middle, leaving you perched at the edge. Breakfast tables were sticky too. Google should know the difference between a hostel and a hotel, since it compared this hostel with a genuine four-star hotel. Even with the location, I wouldn't stay here again.

The food was nice and breakfast was okay, but those twin beds were unbelievably uncomfortable. I told the receptionist, who curtly replied that they were new. My dogs have better beds. Our friends had the same problem in their twin room. I wouldn't come back when you can stay locally for half the price and get a good night's sleep.
