Inn On The Square

Lucy at reception gave us some lovely extra attention during our stay. The real star, though, is the restaurant, especially the Bombay Menu, which should be on every evening. The food was amazing. The Chicken Biriani, cooked in a clay pot, was truly delicious. We ate there twice during our three nights.

We booked at the last minute after a mix-up and were really pleased with the room. It was large, as was the bathroom, which had a big shower, toilet, sink and mirror. They provided biscuits and water, and there was a beautiful view from the window. Breakfast was included and amazing; the breakfast staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. The manager on duty was great too, arranging some pastry for us when we had to leave early on Sunday before breakfast started. One person behind the front desk was unfriendly and had poor customer service skills, but that didn’t ruin the experience. Everything else was perfect, and we hope to come back soon.

A pleasant, smart small hotel in the LDH family, styled much like its sister hotel across the square. The staff were helpful and polite, though less friendly than at that sister hotel. Our room was clean. We chose the accessible room, reached via a very small lift, but there wasn’t enough space in it for a wheelchair, so it seemed more suitable for someone ambulant with moderate mobility needs. The bathroom was gorgeous and well equipped, but the toilet was very low, and I struggled with my mobility issues. In this situation I’d expect an 18" toilet. The Bistro was very expensive and had less choice than I wanted, so we ate across the road. Anyone with mobility issues should know that the route from the rear car park has a series of long sloped walkways, heavy doors in between, and then the lift. There are stairs in all the public spaces, including at the front door.

The Christmas decorations looked stunning, and the bar had such a great atmosphere. The staff were brilliant, chatty and welcoming, which is a real credit to the business. You don't see that as often these days. Keep it up.
