The residents' lounge was the icing on the cake for us, with its cosy log burner, comfortable sofas, reading material and relaxing feel. We also loved the pool and spa. Our three-person party came for a two-night 'galentines' stay and felt at home straight away, thanks to the lovely, helpful receptionist with dark hair in a ponytail. We didn't catch her name. Jamie on Reception was lovely too, and Lee, if we have the name right, ran the dining room day and night and was a real worker. All the staff deserve appreciation, they're the main asset of this lovely place. The room, beds and bathroom were beautiful, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The chef deserves praise too: we had two breakfasts and evening meals, all superb and good value. It felt like a home from home. It's a hidden gem in stunning surroundings. We'll definitely all be back. Book directly if you can, since they always have great offers and a price match policy. Thank you to everyone at Castle Inn.

We spent two nights here over Valentine's weekend, and the room and food were great. The staff were really friendly and nothing we asked was too much trouble. Thanks, we can't wait to come back later in the year. This hotel comes highly recommended.

Despite the rain, we had a great time exploring nearby Keswick and will definitely stay here again. Our first welcome from the polite young man at reception, with dark curly hair, set a lovely tone. Sorry, I'm terrible at remembering names! He couldn't have done more to help and is a credit to the hotel. The dining staff were great too, and we enjoyed breakfast. We didn't use the pool because it was unfortunately too busy, and it looked smaller than it does on the website. Thanks to all the staff for a fab stay!

The views from the room over Skiddaw and ullock pike were excellent, with spectacular sunrises and sunsets. My partner and I had a lovely, hassle-free night away with our baby son. The staff were polite and accommodating, and they provided a cot. The room was clean, nicely presented and had everything we needed. The pool and spa area were great, and the tavern, food and service were faultless. A few parts of the hotel were a little dated and could do with renovation, but nothing was shabby or dirty.

The only let-down was the food at dinner and breakfast. Dinner in particular felt quite expensive for what we got, and the quality didn't really match the price. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely presented, and the staff were a real highlight. Shannon at reception was genuinely friendly and highly professional. She kindly upgraded our room, which made a big difference, and was helpful from the moment we arrived. Alex at breakfast was very welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable. He remembered everything and made breakfast feel relaxed and well looked after. Paul at the bar was great too, friendly and good to chat with.
