Walla Crag, Royal Oak House

The food was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and seemed to use quality ingredients. Friendly, professional service added to a great atmosphere. I’d happily visit again.

We’ve stayed at the royal oak four times now, and each visit has been lovely. This time we spent four nights there with our two large dogs. The pub is very welcoming to dogs, and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Breakfast is a real highlight, with plenty of buffet and cooked options, plus sausages for the dogs every morning. Renovations were going on during our stay, but the workmen were polite and considerate and didn’t affect our visit. At check-in we were upgraded to suite room 1, which we’d stayed in before. It has loads of space, a separate lounge, two TVs, and now a coffee machine and mini fridge stocked with drinks and nibbles. Thanks for a lovely break, we’ll be back soon.

We spent one night here with our dog. The hotel is dog friendly throughout, and so is much of Keswick. Our room was very comfortable and had what we needed, including lovely bathroom toiletries, plenty of tea and coffee, and a coffee machine with pods. There was also a mini fridge with snacks and drinks to pay for when leaving on an honesty basis. Everyone we met on staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant, and breakfast had an excellent choice. We’d be very happy to stay again.

Mariana is the reason we keep coming back each year. She’s been at the hotel for years, and her kindness and friendly face make every visit special. It’s always a pleasure to see her. The breakfast is good too.
