The menu and food were the highlight for us. The mains and deserts were incredible, and breakfast was included in the room price, a generous start before a day of hiking. We wished we’d booked more nights so we could try more dishes. Add the cosy room, friendly staff and service, and the setting at the foot of Blencathra, and it made for a perfect stay. My partner was visiting from Australia, which made the experience feel especially special. I stayed in October and still keep thinking about how great it was, so I had to leave a review. Thank you, and I hope we’ll be back soon!

We came to see whether this would work for regular club meetings, and it exceeded what we expected. The welcome was warm, the staff attentive, and the food was amazing, with plenty of drink choices, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, plus a good range for vegetarians. The loos were clean and there was lots of parking. 10/10.

We eat out a lot, and both of us kept saying how good the food was. I highly recommend the chicken ballontine. Everything was beautifully presented, and the desert was great too. Service was excellent, the place welcomes dogs, and there was a nice open fire. Dinner really cheered us both up, so thank you x

Ruaridh is one of the kindest people you could meet, and he goes above and beyond in every way. The staff are absolutely incredible, and I can’t speak highly enough of him or this place. 10 stars!

Sunday lunch was really enjoyable. I had pan-fried lambs liver with mash, veg n Yorkshire pudg, while the Missus went for the garlic & thyme roast chicken. With beer and a pot of tea, it came to £45. Deffo recommend.
