Kettering Park Hotel & Spa

The hotel was nice and busy, and the staff were friendly. My main issue was the food. The “wood fired, sour dough” pizzas were like Tesco basics and cost £16 each. They didn’t resemble sour dough, wood fired pizza at all, which was really disappointing. The sausages at breakfast were also Tesco basics quality, and sausages are usually a good measure of the breakfast. The rest of the breakfast spread was pretty good, and the toaster made perfect toast. I’d suggest describing the cheap and cheerful pizzas more truthfully on the menu and sorting out the sausages.

The hotel and spa gave us the relaxing break we needed for my wife’s birthday and our wedding anniversary. We stayed two nights, and particularly liked the facilities in the signature room, including a coffee machine, fridge, teapot and complimentary bottle of wine. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

The rooms could use a bit of refreshing, which is a shame, but they’re clean and the bed is comfortable. There are some nice touches too, like White Company toiletries, a coffee machine, and fresh milk and cold water you can refill. We found it good value, and the location shouldn’t put you off. The rooms are quiet, so once you’re inside, you soon forget the surroundings. The spa treatments and facilities were very good and clean, the reception and dining rooms are nicely decorated, and breakfast was great. The staff were welcoming and helpful.

The people handling event hire and planning rescued me. They were incredibly patient as I tried to organise a celebration evening for 60 people with no prior experience and was learning as I went. My guests’ needs and wishes kept changing, and I was beginning to wonder how I’d manage to sort out all the responsibilities. The staff gave me clear guidance and always found a solution. They’re experienced, knowledgeable and courteous.
