Fairlight Lodge

We really enjoyed breakfast, with plenty to choose from and freshly cooked food, including tasty local sausages, homemade marmalade and proper jam. Karl and Jude were lovely hosts, and I’d recommend Fairlight Lodge to anyone staying in the area. Our room was spotless, with a good range of tea, coffee and biscuits. The fresh milk system was a welcome touch, much nicer than little cartons. It also made a great base for our three nights in Norfolk: peaceful enough to relax, yet just a comfortable 15-minute walk to the town centre through 'The Walks' park.

There were a few bathroom cleaning problems, which I reported on the booking site with photos. Breakfast information was inconsistent across booking sites, included on some but not others. The room had good heating and plenty of tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits, and I found the pillows comfortable. There’s free parking. Some things felt a little worn, including the blind, carpet and mattress. It was quiet apart from a constant motor noise, day and night, perhaps an extractor in the next room. Check-in was uncomfortable because I arrived too early without realizing, though the keysafe made a later check-in possible. This could potentially be five-star.

There’s parking, and getting into town is an easy walk. Breakfast was decent and cooked to order. I’d recommend staying here. I liked the thoughtful eco-friendly touches too, like chilled flasks of fresh milk instead of little cartons, eco toilet rolls, loose-leaf tea at breakfast and homemade jam in place of tiny plastic portions.

I usually choose hotels, but this B&B felt like home, so I’m coming back next week and plan to book again for the next five weeks while I visit my clients. Carl and Jude were great hosts, and breakfast was superb. Do try Dawns home made jam! I had the lavender room for two days. It was clean and tidy, with a comfy bed and a lovely garden right outside the door. Little extras like biscuits and a Kit Kat with the tea and coffee, plus shower gel and shampoo, made a difference. A lovely room and service.
