OYO Dayz Away Lodge

I still haven't got my security deposit back after 22 days, and there's no phone number to call. The live chat is awful and barely works, while social media have been rude and no help. I'm thinking about contacting my bank's fraud team. The room was cold, there was no TV remote, and the bathroom floor was so slippery it felt like an ice rink and could have been dangerous. There was a strong bleach smell in the room, and a power cut hit while I was showering, leaving me freezing. An absolute shambles. Spend a bit more on an established chain like Travelodge or Premier Inn.

The young man at check-in was friendly and polite, but the stay went downhill fast. The bathroom ceiling was bulging and peeling, and the bath was badly stained from leaking taps, with black marks at the bottom. The room also had a strong smoke smell and cigarette burns in the net curtains. Then there was loud activity against the wall behind our headboard for three hours into the night, with multiple people and one woman groaning. That was the final straw. At £35 a night, the bed was about as comfortable as I expected.

We paid £31.50 and still didn't feel we'd got our money's worth. The shower swung from scalding hot to cold, with no comfortable temperature in between, and the door only locked from inside the room. There was a strong smoke smell all the way from the walk up to the hotel and into the room. The TV had no remote, and inside the chest of drawers we found leftover sandwich bits, moldy bread, cheese and butter.

The bathroom light didn't work, and there was mould and hair in the bathtub. The floorboards all creaked when you stepped on them. The rooms are right beside reception, so you hear everyone all night. The walls are thin too, and you can clearly hear couples there for a good time. I told reception, but they seemed completely unconcerned, like it was normal. Don't go.
