The food was a real highlight, and the afternoon tea was a treat too. Our room was spacious and elegant, with a comfortable, lived-in feel that suited the occasion. We celebrated our wedding at Augill Castle last March, and Wendy and her team kept everything running so smoothly that we could simply enjoy the day. They were warm, attentive and thoughtful throughout, and we never felt stressed. Augill Castle is a Victorian Gothic country house from the 1840s. It’s called a castle more for its character than its size, which gives it a homely, intimate atmosphere. The cosy drawing rooms, crackling fireplaces and well-stocked honesty bar add to that relaxed feel. Everything was carefully prepared, beautifully presented and even better than we’d hoped, and the whole experience felt like remarkable value for the money. For a special occasion, it’s hard to imagine a more charming and welcoming place. We left wishing we could do it all again. Thank you, truly. ❤️

I found Augill Castle through a Burns Night Dinner gift, and it was a lovely surprise. Even though I live just 40 miles away, I hadn’t known about this hotel beside the A66. The rooms and their decoration were a delight, and the food was very good in presentation and quality, with attentive service from friendly staff. The whole stay made for a wonderful experience, and I hope to return before too long. 😀

The pork pie was amazing, and our room was just right with an exceptionally comfortable bed. We were there for my husband's birthday and Jude gave us a lovely, friendly and helpful welcome. The grounds and atmosphere were peaceful and tranquil. We’d definitely come back.

We enjoyed the food, and the staff were lovely. I think Rose was the person who checked us in and whom we saw most during our stay. She was polite and really helpful. I took my wife and baby for a weekend visit. The place was beautiful, our room had lots of character, and we loved the log fires. It was nice to wander around the grounds and explore the hotel. We’ll definitely be back soon. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the Pendragon suite and loved it. Thanks to Wendy, Jude and the staff for making us feel so comfortable, with excellent food and customer service. We were the only guests there, which was the one drawback, though that wasn’t the hotel’s fault. People don’t know what they’re missing. We hope to return with better weather.
