The garden views were what made me book Sally End cottage, and it turned out to be a gem. It was a beautiful base for exploring the lakes and the dales, though I hadn't realised how magnificent the area was. You can head straight out hiking from the door. Inside, I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely and cosy the cottage felt. I think it's been updated since the advert, and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in. There are thoughtful touches everywhere, from seeds for the birds and nuts for the elusive red squirrels to hot water bottles for chilly nights. We had sunshine all week, but I can imagine the bottles and extra blankets are much appreciated in colder months. From the garden, you look over fields with spring lambs. Friendly cattle came over to chat across the wall, and we even spotted two hares. Honestly, it was the best week of my life. The cottage had everything I could wish for, and I hope to return someday. Highly recommend it.

The setting was a real highlight, with lovely walks starting right at the cottage and beautiful views all around. We also saw wonderful wildlife every day. The cottage is gorgeous and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, with thoughtful little gifts in every room. Our two dogs were happy there too. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would happily recommend it.

Such a peaceful spot, with the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District both fairly close. The cottage had everything we and the dogs needed, and it was lovely that they could come along. The owners were really friendly and left us some thoughtful little gifts. I liked it so much I wanted to move in. Highly recommend for a quiet break.

A lovely little cottage for anyone who enjoys peace and quiet. The garden is enclosed, though a dog that jumps walls might get out.

The views over the valley are beautiful, and there’s plenty to see and do nearby. Inside, the main bedroom is bright and roomy, but the smaller one feels cramped with both beds in use. The cottage has Wi-Fi, Freeview TV and a phone, though that phone rang several times, including at 5am, which was annoying. It’s a spacious two-bedroom place with a walled garden beside fields with livestock. The kitchen diner has an oil-fired Aga, an electric oven and hob, a microwave, two fridges and a freezer. There’s also a washing machine in a separate laundry room.
