The Cow Byre is a gorgeous little cottage, set in beautiful countryside. It’s well equipped and has a lovely interior. We spent a week there and could easily have stayed longer. I’d highly recommend it.

We got plenty done locally in two days, and everyone we met was lovely. Still, two days felt far too short. This little countryside hideaway had rabbits, owls and other wildlife for company, and everything had been arranged so well that we didn't need to meet the hosts. We'll book a longer stay next time and explore further afield.

We spent a week here in August 2018, and the quiet setting was a real treat. The Cow Byre is in a small farming hamlet, where the main sounds are sheep bleating and rooks cawing. It feels quite remote, though there are several lovely three-mile walks to pubs in Brough, Winton and Kirkby Stephen. The owners live next door, are very friendly and know loads about things to do nearby. The converted cow byre has an open plan layout over three levels, with lots of space, comfortable furniture and good facilities. Recycled materials have been used where possible, and the sunset views through the patio window are beautiful. A delightful place for two, highly recommended.

The bedding and towels were crisp and bright white, and we had complimentary robes and slippers. Such beautiful surroundings, and wonderfully peaceful, tucked away as it is. Stunning all round ❤️

We were visiting friends and loved the stunning interior and the great views. It's a quiet spot, with the owners living in the house next door.
