We’re already thinking about coming back with the kids. The house was lovely, the property in amazing shape, and it all felt clean and comfortable. There’s a tall warmer in the bathroom, and the shower has an external heater for unlimited hot water!! The host was very nice, and the train station for Edinburgh is only a five minute walk away, with trains every hour until midnight. The country is beautiful too!

An adorable B&B in a quiet spot just outside Edinburgh. It’s in a privately owned house, with en-suite bathrooms and a beautiful garden. The owner offered to make a full breakfast, but I was rushing to the airport, so I had porridge and tea instead. Perfect if you want somewhere peaceful off the beaten path.

The breakfasts were fantastic every morning, and we enjoyed lingering over them with another visiting couple. Later, we'd sit together and talk about all the wonderful things we'd seen on our daily travels. The grounds were beautiful, and the hosts at Highfield House were outstanding and accommodating. My wife and I are thinking of visiting again sometime.

The owners were very friendly and happy to answer almost anything, and they made a nice breakfast every day. It’s only five minutes on foot to the train station for Edinburgh and Glasgow. The old house has a nice room with a good bed and an en-suite bathroom, plus a pleasant garden with a tennis field.

The breakfast was good, and it takes about 20-25 minutes to get to the city centre around the castle. It’s an old house with plenty of character, almost like a little old palace, though the cleaning could have been better.
