We paid a lot for two coach house rooms, and this was easily the worst and most expensive of the four Best Weston Hotels we’ve stayed in this year. One room was left uncleaned despite asking in the morning, reminding the manager at 3pm, and asking again at 5pm. A receptionist eventually left tea bags and some breakfast items, with no apology. The room’s open window was beside a kitchen extractor, so there was noise and fumes all night. Outside, the car park had poorly drained puddles and inadequate lighting. The spa also seemed neglected, with broken lights and handles, no water, a broken spinner, and missing bags. Dogs are completely barred from the main hotel. We’ve never encountered a hotel that refused them everywhere inside. They could have offered the conservatory or bar to avoid dogs in the breakfast room. Staff first said they’d bring breakfast to our room, then said in the morning they couldn’t be bothered. There was no apology or help, and the staff seemed disengaged throughout. The customer service was appalling.

Ruby at the spa reception made our stay feel special from the start. She was warm and helpful, and found a last-minute pedicure appointment for my mum. The hotel is in a beautiful spot, and our room, 241, was well furnished and equipped. Housekeeping freshened it up while we were out, and reception brought extra coffee and glasses when we asked. We had dinner as a family in the conservatory. The full menu was available, with everything from a festive burger and fish of the day to stonebaked pizza. The food arrived in reasonable time, and the pricing felt fair for the quality and presentation. Breakfast staff were attentive but relaxed too. We couldn’t have asked for more from the staff. We’ll be back in the new year for a spa break, thank you.

The Bishop's palace is right next door, and the hotel sits in a beautiful location. We’ve been a few times and loved it each visit. The restaurant is very good, but the spa and fitness facilities are our favourite part. Staff are consistently friendly and helpful.

The building is clearly old, and a refresh of the decor would help, but everything was clean, comfortable and presentable. We had a relaxing, enjoyable stay in a lovely location. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and both breakfast and dinner were lovely.

The restaurant food and breakfast were excellent, and I enjoyed the pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. We also got a free upgrade to a superior double after some glitches with the website booking. I wasn’t keen on the “voluntary service charge,” though.
