CBH The Sun Hotel and Bar

We came for dinner, not a stay, and all three of us loved the steak pie. The beef filling was excellent, probably the nicest pie I’ve had in years. The gravy was really tasty, though I wished there’d been more, maybe in a little jug. The mustard mash was too strong for all of us, and we’d have preferred chips, though perhaps they can be swapped in. Staff were lovely, and the atmosphere was relaxed.

The homemade food was wonderful, and the staff were lovely. Jess did a great job sorting out our reservations. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with the best bed and bedding we’ve had in 18 days of travel. The bar felt warm and inviting. Hate to leave, but Scotland is calling.

Tom, the general manager, personally helped us when we arrived with my mobility scooter. He treated me like his favorite grandfather and walked my wife to our room while I ran an errand. When I got back, someone helped me up to the room too. Everyone has gone above and beyond. Room #17 is the best hotel room we’ve had in 10 days travelling around the UK. We’re looking forward to the breakfast, the menu looks wonderful. Lancaster is a great town to visit, and I hope to come back someday.

The room was spotless, far nicer than the photos suggest, and the bed was a dream. We arrived before check-in, but staff let us use the facilities to get ready while housekeeping finished the room. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed a drink in the bar, which had a great atmosphere, and Lancaster’s lively town centre is only minutes away. Breakfast the next morning was spot on, we both had the full English and it was super tasty. We liked The Sun Hotel & Bar so much that we booked again for May as we checked out. Big thanks to the team. We’ll definitely recommend it and can’t wait for May.
