Crows Hotel Lancaster

A cosy, clean little place, with a handy fridge that cooled our bottles quickly. The room also had a fan, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. The shower was powerful and hot, though its doors don’t shut properly, so water gets onto the floor. We were on the top floor, and it was roasting. Room 9 has very low ceilings, so I had to stoop to make tea and coffee. There wasn’t a light near the large mirror for doing my hair. The stairs are steep and narrow, so take care with heavy or large cases.

I haven’t actually stayed at Crows Hotel yet. I booked, then my plans changed, and their cancellation policy was clear, so cancelling was easy. What stood out was how quickly and helpfully the team responded. That kind of service is much appreciated when arranging a stay from far away. I’m looking forward to my next trip to Lancaster, partly because I’ll get to stay at Crows Hotel. Its location is another big plus.

The room was modern and clean, and the location is convenient for both the town centre and train station. But I had the worst night’s sleep in ages. It’s right by a busy road, there’s little soundproofing between rooms, and the blinds let in more light than curtains would. People upstairs swore and argued, and someone kept walking around until 3 am. There was also noise from the ground-floor laundrette, from 7:30 am to 6 pm. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re hoping to relax or sleep well.

This time there wasn’t a breakfast option that we knew of, although the room had equipment for making our own. On a previous stay, we could choose breakfast. No one checked us in or out, so the place felt impersonal. The only person we spoke to was a lovely cleaner. We stayed here for our wedding, and that all worked out, but the overall experience still felt very impersonal.
